If you’re thinking of washing your pet, you have a lot of options to choose from. Most pet owners normally think about using a tub when it comes the time to wash down their K-9 companion. I don’t really blame you for thinking along these terms because this is how most Americans wash their four-legged K-9 friends. The problem is that it often leads to a much longer washing process.
Imagine having to get up, pick up some soap or some other supplies, grab some brushes and then go back near the tub and continue with what you’re doing. Some bad things can happen as you move backwards and forwards from your dog bathtub. You can slip on a wet spot. You can take a long time getting back because you got distracted. All these possible events can make the dog wash experience a hustle.
Sadly, the more you think an activity is a hustle, the less likely you’re going to engage in that activity. The big loser here of course is your dog. Unfortunately, too many Americans think that they just need a doggy bathtub and their entire dog washing problems will go away. No, it doesn’t work that way.
In fact, there are better options out there. I suggest you look into using a dog wash sink. Just put your dog in the sink and water can be applied in a very measured and consistent way. This makes the whole doggy wash experience so much faster and smoother. What’s not to love?
Well, as you probably already know, using a dog wash sink is not a slam dunk, I wish it was. I wish that you just need to buy some sort of magic bullet or one-size fits all product and all your grooming and bathing issues go away. Unfortunately, no such product exists.
There’s a reason why there are so many different dog grooming and dog bathing products on the market. Different owners have different requirements, different dogs have different preferences. The reason why there are so many options you could go with this because there are just so many different sets of circumstances that would color the needs of a particular pet owner.
I need you to look at the whole process of considering a dog wash sink from this perspective. As you probably already know or have heard, it’s too easy to use a dog wash sink in a very sloppy way. In fact, you only need to ask a few fellow dog owners and they can tell you how sloppy and messy it can be. It’s bad enough when you are washing your pet in a tub. Can you imagine washing your pet in a wash sink?
The good news is you can easily recover from sloppy washing experiences or overcome the fear of such experiences due to the bad stories you’ve heard. By simply going into the process with a little preparation, you can go a long way in ensuring that the washing experience can be pleasurable for both you and your K-9 companion.
First, you need to make sure that all necessary supplies are within arm’s length. I am of course talking about brushes and soaps. Second, make sure that the drying equipment like towels and mats are ready and completely dry. Third, make sure that you pick a dog wash sink design that is very easy to wipe down and clean. Fourth, be clear about the optimal water level or water flow for your wash sink.
If you follow these steps to the latter, chances are quite good that you would actually look forward to washing your pet. I’m sure from your pet’s perspective, the feeling would be mutual.
